As you reach level 3 of your CultureWorks ESL education, you’ll have developed basic English grammar, vocabulary, public speaking, and reading comprehension skills. That means you’ll be ready to customize your ESL studies with one of the many electives that CultureWorks offers. These special courses help students develop specific English language skills for subject areas they are most interested in.
You can take an elective in pronunciation and conversation, Canadian cultural studies, or take your English conversation skills to the next level with The Daily Boomalang.
What is The Daily Boomalang and how does it help you get fluent in English? Read on to find out!
What is The Daily Boomalang?
Becoming fluent in English means being able to have a conversation in real time on a variety of topics. That’s where The Daily Boomalang comes in! The Daily Boomalang helps you practise your listening and speaking skills through interesting conversations with other students on today’s current issues and events. The course takes place online, so it’s really easy to take part.
Before every session, your instructor will send you articles and videos about a topic. You will have plenty of time to read through the material and think about what you want to say. Then, during the Boomalang, you get to share your opinion with your instructor as well as other students, using our online platform.
What do ESL Students Talk about during the Daily Boomalang?
With the Boomalang, no two topics are ever the same. That’s because the class covers current events happening in the world today. One week you could be talking about China’s space program, and the next you might be discussing animal rights.
In the past, students have talked about local events like the upcoming Canadian election, as well as global issues like the nuclear deal between US and Iran.
How Does the Boomalang Enhance ESL Learning?
The Daily Boomalang helps you practise words and expressions you learn in class as you study English in Canada. Regular conversation helps you get used to new words, phrases, and expressions.
Boomalang students enhance their English fluency along with their critical thinking skills as they analyze important issues and share their own opinions.
