The Government of Canada has announced that, effective January 7, 2021, at 12:01 a.m. EST, all air passengers five years of age or older will be required to test negative for COVID-19 before travelling from another country into Canada.
Documentation of a negative laboratory test result must be presented to the airline prior to boarding a flight to Canada. The test must be performed using a COVID-19 molecular polymerase chain reaction (or PCR) test and must be taken within 72 hours prior to the traveller’s scheduled departure to Canada.
Anyone who receives a negative test result and is authorized to enter Canada must still complete the full, mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Prior to confirmation of start date and anticipated arrival in Canada, all students will be counselled by CultureWorks staff as to their obligations for quarantining, and travel protocols to ensure health and safety of all campus members.
All CultureWorks students will be required to undergo all necessary travel-related health screenings, wear non-medical mask or face covering during travel, submit an acceptable quarantine plan including location and contact information, and quarantine for 14 days upon arrival, in accordance with the Emergency Order Minimizing the Risk of Exposure to COVID-19 in Canada Order (Mandatory Isolation) No. 3
CultureWorks staff will check in daily with each student during their quarantine period, by telephone. Students and their co-arriving immediate family members have been instructed and encouraged to download the Government of Canada’s ArriveCAN app prior to arrival at the border.
